We need all the assistance possible to reach our goals for the year ahead. Below is a list of the PTA’s committees and events for the 2011-2012 school year. Please indicate where you can help throughout the year. Remember, just 30 minutes here and there makes a world of difference to your child’s education.
4th Grade Awards - Organize end-of-the-year program and/or celebration for the 4th grade students.
Arts in Education/Reflections - Responsible for previewing and selecting acts and/ or performances for special school functions and coordinates the National PTA reflections Contest during the fall semester.
Box Tops - This group gathers Box Tops to raise money for the school. It meets twice a year to count, bag and label Box Tops for submission. Student participation is recorded throughout the year for rewards to be determined by Chairperson.
Cafeteria Helpers - Daily opportunities to assist in the cafeteria by opening lunches and drinks, guiding students, and providing napkins/utensils so students stay seated during their lunch period.
Environmental - Coordinates the National PTA Environmental Contest, assist with campus beautification, weekly recycling pick-up, and environmental awareness.
Fundraising – Committee organizes & participates in fundraising activities to earn money for the school. Fall Fundraiser
Spring Fundraiser
Grants – Gathers information from local businesses that offer rewards and support to our PTA. Make flyers and share this information with our Magnolia families. Example :Subway, Kroger, Randalls, Target.
Health & Safety – This committee provides Health & Safety literature to students and assists school administration with Red Ribbon Week which takes place October 24 – 28, 2011.
Hospitality – This group decorates, prepares food, and /or helps set up monthly luncheons for teachers and staff.
International Festival / Day in the Arts – Magnolia PTA will prepare a booth for the Pearland Council of PTA’s annual event.
Legislation Action – This committee is responsible for keeping PTA members aware of pending state and national legislation. They also keep members informed of happenings in the community such as school and bond elections.
Library Aides/Book Fair - Library Aides assist Librarian with check-in, check-out, and re-shelving during school hours. Book Fair volunteers assist with fall & spring Book Fair set-up, function & breakdown. Nov 7 – 11, 2011 and April 2 – 5, 2012
Membership – This group assists in conducting PTA Drives for new memberships.
Newsletter – This team writes a monthly PTA newsletter to keep parents informed throughout the school year.
POPS in PTA - This crew of men (dad, uncles, grandpas, neighbors, friends, etc…) helps with various projects and plans.
Retail Support - This group communicates with local business to plan family nights which yield a percentage of profits to the PTA. These proceeds are used to fund programs for the students at Magnolia Elementary.
RIG Night - Volunteer to work the concession stand on behalf of Magnolia Elementary PTA for one varsity football game in Pearland.
S.M.A.R.T Night - This group helps teachers with a fun & rewarding night for students achieving their reading goals.
School Supplies – This committee assists in the ordering, labeling, and distribution of pre-packaged school supplies.
Spirit Store – This committee collects orders twice a year for polo shirts and hoodies. Responsible for making flyers, collecting and submitting orders. Also sells spirit items for Magnolia Elementary, including polo shirts, hoodies and koozies. Sales take place at school events, packet drop-off and Kindergarten registration. Works closely with the Treasurer.
Website – Keep the website updated with current information.
Yearbook – This committee is responsible for taking pictures of students & staff during school functions & events. They also assist in the yearbook publication, sales, and end-of-the-year distribution.
